Staff Council

Overview of Staff Council

Staff Council was established in 1989 to serve as a representative voice for staff members working throughout the University. The goal of the Council is to ensure that staff personnel have a venue to voice their views, interests, and concerns regarding their support of and function within The University of Southern Mississippi.

Staff Council Statement of Inclusion and Support

Staff Council serves as a representative voice for staff members working throughout the University. The goal of the Council is to ensure that staff personnel have a venue to voice their views, interests, and concerns regarding their support of and function within The University of Southern Mississippi. As a voice at Southern Miss, we cannot be silent while witnessing the injustices going on in our nation. We are deeply grieved by the scenes of the past month, and we are at a loss for words over the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and countless others before and after them. These tragedies go against all that we stand for as a council and at The University of Southern Mississippi. Today and every day, we will continue to do the work needed to best support and stand by our colleagues and students of color. We are in this together, and together we will be the change we wish to see in our world, here at USM, in Hattiesburg, along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and well beyond. You matter to us greatly, and we are here for you.
